North Shore Youth Council (NSYC), a not-for-profit community-based agency, is seeking Site Supervisors for our School Age Child Care Programs (SACC). Our programs take place before and after school and service youth in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Mount Sinai, Rocky Point, and Shoreham-Wading River School Districts. The Site Supervisor works under the direction of the Program Director and is responsible for being on-site before and after school to supervise children and staff and facilitate the child care program daily. Programs provide morning and afternoon child care and enrichment when school is in session, Monday through Friday, in the mornings from 6:45 AM to 9:30 AM and in the afternoons from 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM (actual program hours vary based on school).

Job duties:

• Supervise and monitor the safety of all children in the program in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings under the direction of the Program Director and within the licensure requirements and regulations of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and agency policies.
• Plan, organize, and implement the daily school age child care program schedule of activities before and after school.
• Keep daily attendance, manage registration paperwork, keep appropriate records, incident reports, time sheets, staff evaluations, etc., and maintain all program equipment and inventory.
• Administer daily health screenings, basic first aid, and medications as may be required in accordance with OCFS and agency policies.
• Conduct regular fire and emergency evacuation drills with children and staff.
• Follow the appropriate disciplinary policies, resolve conflicts, and maintain effective communication with parents/guardians in a professional manner.
• Greet parents/guardians daily and promote participation.
• Attend meetings and staff training as required.
• Work with the Program Director to sustain a high-quality child care program that values partnerships between families, schools, and staff.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma, or equivalent, required.
• Associate's Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field, preferred.
• Two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
• Must be able to submit to fingerprinting and background checks.
• First Aid and CPR certifications preferred, but will provide training.
