Position Summary:

Child care staff member/Teacher is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth, spiritual growth and development of all children in their care, which may include infants, toddlers and/or preschool age children; develops partnerships with parents/child's caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in program. CCSM/ Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with codes of all State and local governing contracting agencies; and works collegially with other staff members of Caleigh's Place.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts. Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress. Organize and label materials and display students' work in a manner appropriate for their eye levels and perceptual skills. Participates in child transition and orientation of the classroom with parents. Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/ caregivers. Assist in providing a classroom environment that encourages parent participation. Ensure that each family receives an opportunity to build strong relationships and experience clear communication with teaching staff. Participate in teacher-parent conferences regarding students' progress or problems. Liaison with children's families to ensure smooth transition from home to child care setting and transitions from classroom to classroom when needed. Assist families with children's transitions from infant to toddler and from toddler to pre-school as well as pre-school to Kindergarten. Maintain accurate, complete and timely client and agency records; Completes daily meal and attendance records. Completes and reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor. Completes daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children. Assures a healthy, safe, clean and developmentally appropriate environment for children. Participate in scheduled meetings i.e. Lead Teacher Meetings, lesson plans, policies & procedures, training received. Prepare lesson outlines and plans in assigned subject areas, and submit outlines to Lead teachers for review. Reports all staffing and classroom concerns to supervisor in a timely manner. Participate in on-going in-service and educational development opportunities provided by the Agency.

Physical Requirements:

• Be able to bend and stand repeatedly throughout the day
• Be on the floor engage and interacting with children
• Able to lift up to 40lbs (diaper changes, child needing comfort, ect)
• Able to deal with a high stress environment on a daily basis.
• Able to play and physically engage with children on regular basis Able to run and react quickly in escalated situations.

The person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description. Caleigh's Place is a faith based child care center.
