We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Childcare Cleaning and Maintenance Person to help keep our locations exceptionally clean, safe, organized, and well maintained. This is a hands-on position combining professional cleaning with maintenance and facility upkeep. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, notices things before they become problems, and can work independently without needing constant direction. Our facilities are intentionally small, but cleanliness is central to the Recess experience. We are looking for someone who takes pride in creating spaces that feel exceptionally clean, organized, safe, and ready for children and families. Schedule Approximately 8-12 hours per week with room to add more as we open new locations in the next 3-6 months Primarily evenings after children have left One longer weekend cleaning block may be required Both locations will generally be scheduled back-to-back Consistent weekly schedule

Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Sanitation Vacuum and mop floors throughout the facilities Thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms Clean sinks, fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, and glass Deep-clean high-use areas as needed Clean baseboards, corners, walls, and other areas that require periodic attention Empty trash and handle waste disposal as needed Help maintain an exceptionally clean environment appropriate for a childcare facility Perform periodic deep-cleaning projects Facility Maintenance Complete minor repairs and general handyman tasks Assemble or repair furniture, shelving, equipment, and fixtures Perform minor painting, patching, caulking, and touch-ups Replace light bulbs, batteries, hardware, and other basic facility items Identify maintenance concerns and communicate them to management Help coordinate access for outside vendors or specialized repairs when necessary Perform routine preventative-maintenance checks Assist with facility setup, organization, storage, and improvement projects What We Are Looking For Reliable and consistently punctual Strong attention to detail Able to work independently without constant supervision Comfortable following a detailed digital checklist Able to identify and address areas that need attention rather than only completing obvious tasks Prior professional cleaning, childcare-facility cleaning, hospitality, healthcare, or similar experience preferred Comfortable traveling between two nearby Philadelphia locations Smartphone or basic app proficiency Must be able to complete any required background clearances and employment documentation Physical Requirements Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks Ability to move lightweight furniture and cleaning equipment Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds Ability to safely use vacuums, mops, cleaning products, and related equipment What Recess Provides $16-$18 per hour Predictable part-time hours All cleaning products and equipment Clear checklists and training Paid working time between locations A supportive, respectful work environment Opportunity for additional hours as Recess adds facilities Important This position is focused on cleaning and facility care.
