GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general direction of the Child Care Manager and the general guidance of the Executive Director, performs a variety of tasks related to the promotion of a safe and healthy environment for children, to include early childhood development; i.e., social, cognitive, physical and emotional growth of the children cared for in the Child Care Center, with parental involvement sharing child related information for the well-being of the child.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement the curriculum in the areas of cognitive, physical, emotional and social growth on a weekly basis. Assist in communicating specific information concerning the children orally or writing to the Child Care Manager. Assist with infants and toddlers when necessary, by providing personal care routines and charting diapering and feeding schedule as required from state licensing throughout the day. Assist all age groups with supervision, discipline and interaction when necessary. Obtain a minimum of 20 hours annually of approved ongoing training pertaining to licensing requirements and childhood development under the direction of the Child Care Manager. Adhere to all policies and procedures stated in the Employee Handbook and any applicable Policy and Procedure Manual.
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the daily maintenance of the Center, i.e., cleaning, vacuuming, and washing toys during the day and end of the day. Assist in the training of new employees on a daily basis. Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.
NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS
Interact and communicate in a professional and effective manner with all levels of employees, management, executives, vendors, families and external partners.
TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High School Diploma or GED Requires 3 years of experience working with children in Head Start, preschool or day care setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills. Demonstrate high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with families. High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility. Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude. Demonstrated commitment to achieving the organization's goals and objectives.

Work is generally performed in a child care center environment; frequently stand, sit, crawl, bend, twist and lift up to 50 lbs. The employee is regularly required to: perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands.
