Halifax, VA (2 homes) and Danville, VA (1 home) Position Summary Beginning Today Youth Services (BTYS) is seeking experienced Child Care Supervisors to provide leadership and oversight within our residential youth programs. We are hiring for all three BTYS homes—two in Halifax, Virginia, and one in Danville, Virginia. The Child Care Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership for direct-care staff while helping maintain a safe, structured, consistent, and supportive environment for residents. We are looking for leaders who demonstrate initiative, accountability, sound judgment, strong communication, and follow-through and who are comfortable coaching staff, identifying needs, solving problems, and maintaining high standards for resident care and program operations. Key Responsibilities Supervise, coach, train, and develop direct-care staff, Relief Staff, and Volunteers/Interns. Establish clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and support staff accountability and performance. Maintain an active leadership presence within the home and support consistent daily routines and quality resident care. Identify staffing, resident-care, safety, documentation, training, and operational needs and take appropriate action or escalate when necessary. Support staff scheduling and effective communication and shift transitions. Monitor required documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Support compliance with BTYS policies, licensing requirements, medication procedures, and established standards of care. Respond effectively to behavioral events, crises, and unexpected situations using sound judgment and appropriate de-escalation techniques. Coordinate and/or transport residents to medical and dental appointments as needed. Partner with the Program Director and leadership team to address concerns, strengthen staff performance, and continuously improve program operations. Minimum Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in human services, social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, education, or a related field. Minimum of five years of professional experience working with children, including at least two years in a residential facility for children, in accordance with Virginia regulatory requirements. Previous supervisory, management, team-lead, or other relevant leadership experience. Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and coach staff, including setting clear expectations, providing effective feedback, and ensuring follow-through and accountability. Strong written and verbal communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively respond to unexpected events or crises. Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Ability to successfully complete required background and pre-employment screening. Preferred Qualifications Leadership experience in residential treatment, group homes, behavioral health, child welfare, youth services, or a similar care environment. Experience with staff development, scheduling, performance management, documentation, medication processes, and regulatory compliance.
Compensation & Schedule Salary:
$60,000 annually
REQUIRED SCHEDULE
o 12-8PM Monday- Friday, o 10-6PM Weekends (2weekends/ month o Schedule could change during summer or extended periods when school is out such as Spring Break/Christmas Break•
