Job Summary The Childcare Staff plays a critical role in the care and development of children and adolescents living in a therapeutic group home setting. The Childcare Staff provides direct supervision, emotional support, behavioral guidance, and life skills training in a trauma informed, person-centered environment. work collaboratively with other staff to promote safety, emotional wellness, and developmental growth of youth residents in alignment with their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs). Responsibilities Administer medications as trained and delegated in accordance with medication administration policies. Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns according to agency protocols. Maintain cleanliness and safety of the facility including light housekeeping and monitoring the physical environment. Attend staff meetings, required trainings, and supervision sessions. Accompany and supervise residents during community outings, recreational activities, and scheduled appointments. Support youth participation in school, vocational, and extracurricular activities. Follow and implement behavioral support plans and therapeutic strategies as designed by the clinical team. Redirect challenging behaviors and model appropriate social interactions. Document behaviors, interventions, and progress toward ISP goals accurately and in a timely manner. Respond to behavioral crises using de-escalation strategies and approved crisis intervention techniques. Utilize trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and behavioral stability. Provide constant supervision to ensure safety and structure within the group home environment. Implement daily routines including wake-up, meals, hygiene, school preparation, and bedtime. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in school, group home or similar settings is preferred. High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred, QMHP preferred. At least one year of experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral or emotional challenges preferred. Must be at least 21 years old in accordance with DBHDS regulations for children's residential services. Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Valid Virginia driver's license with acceptable driving record. Successful completion of all required background checks Ability to complete all agency-required training within designated timelines.
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 35.0 per week
