Job Description

Schedule:
Monday thru Friday, 7:45am to 1:30pm Do you love working with children? Are you energetic, patient, creative, and passionate about making a positive impact? The Sheridan County YMCA is looking for caring individuals to join our Childcare team and help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and thrive while their parents enjoy the YMCA. At the Y, we're more than a gym—we're a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening our community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Every interaction is an opportunity to help children build confidence, make friends, and have fun. What You'll Do As a Drop-In Childcare Provider, you'll: Supervise children in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. Plan and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities. Build positive relationships with children and their families. Encourage positive behavior using patience and effective communication. Maintain a clean, organized classroom and accurate program records. Follow YMCA safety policies and state childcare licensing requirements. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and YMCA events.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
Is at least 16 years old. Enjoys working with children of various ages. Is dependable, enthusiastic, and compassionate. Communicates well with children, parents, and coworkers. Can stay calm, solve problems, and adapt to changing situations. Has previous childcare experience (preferred but not required). Training You'll Receive The YMCA provides required training, including: CPR & First Aid Child Abuse Prevention Emergency Procedures Ongoing professional development and state-required STARS training Physical Requirements This is an active position! You'll spend your day: Standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Leading games and activities. Occasionally running, lifting, and keeping up with energetic children. Why Work at the Y?
