1 Title Reach (Missions) Pastor at Guntersville (AL) First Methodist Church. 2 Position Overview The Reach (Mission) Pastor is a Spirit-led ministry leader responsible for cultivating a culture of evangelism, compassion, and mission throughout the congregation and beyond. Rooted in the Great Commission and the Acts 1:8 vision, this pastor will equip, inspire, and mobilize members to share the love of Christ personally, locally, and globally. This role serves as a vital connector between the church's internal discipleship pathways and its outward-facing mission to reach the lost, the hurting, and the unchurched. 2.1 Reports to Lead Pastor 3 Ministry Responsibilities 3.1 Evangelism & Personal Outreach a) Champion a church-wide culture of personal evangelism, equipping every member to confidently and naturally share their faith in everyday life b) Lead and develop training initiatives focused on personal investment and invitation, servant evangelism, and relational outreach c) Model and teach practical evangelism methods that are accessible for believers at all stages of spiritual maturity d) Cultivate a congregation-wide commitment to prayer as the foundation of all evangelism and mission efforts 3.2 Guest Experience & Connection a) Oversee the full journey from first impression to connection, ensuring first-time guests are welcomed with warmth, intentionality, and genuine love b) Develop and maintain systems that move first-time guests into meaningful relationships within the congregation c) Train and shepherd volunteers who serve in greeting, hospitality, and connection ministries 1 / 3 REACH Pastor, v1.0 2026-09-14 d) Regularly assess and improve the guest experience to reflect the kindness and love of Christ at every touchpoint 3.3 Group Evangelism & Mission a) Organize, promote, and lead group evangelism initiatives and community outreach events that engage the broader congregation b) Plan and execute local and global mission trips, providing meaningful opportunities for members to serve beyond the church walls in the spirit of Acts 1:8 c) Coordinate compassion ministry efforts that address physical and spiritual needs in the local community d) Mobilize small groups and ministry teams to participate actively in the church's outreach mission 3.4 Member Engagement & Equipping a) Develop ongoing training and equipping opportunities—including workshops, sermon series partnerships, and small group curricula—to grow members in evangelistic confidence and skill b) Maintain regular, meaningful engagement with the congregation to inspire ownership of the church's reach mission c) Identify, recruit, and develop lay leaders and volunteers who can champion evangelism and outreach within their spheres of influence d) Collaborate closely with pastoral staff to integrate the Reach pathway seamlessly into the church's broader disciple-making journey alongside the Worship, Grow, and Serve pathways 3.5 Global Mission Oversight a) Develop and maintain relationships with missionaries, mission organizations, and global partners in alignment with the church's theological commitments b) Provide pastoral care, communication, and accountability for members engaged in global mission work c) Foster a congregation-wide vision for the world, regularly bringing global mission stories and needs before the church 2 / 3 REACH Pastor, v1.0 2026-09-14 4 Qualifications 4.1 Faith & Character a) A deeply personal and growing faith, evidenced by a consistent prayer life and passion for the lost b) Demonstrated love, kindness, and Christlike humility in all relationships c) A self-starter who models the outreach behaviors they ask others to embrace d) Strong relational skills with the ability to engage warmly with long-time members, new guests, and unchurched individuals alike e) Collaborative team player who thrives in a staff culture built around shared mission f) Cheerfully and proportionally give (tithe) in financial covenant with this local church (Mal 3:10, Num 18:26; Mt 23:23, 1 Cor 16:2, 2 Cor 8:7, 2 Cor 9:7) 4.2 Skills & Experience a) Proven experience in evangelism ministry, outreach leadership, or mission coordination in a local church setting b) Experience planning and leading mission trips (domestic and/or international) c) Track record of building and sustaining volunteer teams and lay leadership pipelines d) Familiarity with guest assimilation systems and connection strategies 4.3 Education & Credentials a) Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from an accredited institution preferred b) Demonstrated commitment to Wesleyan-Arminian theology and the Global Methodist Church's doctrine and discipline 5 About This Role The Reach (Missions) Pastor will guide the church in fulfilling the great commission to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20).
