ASSOCIATE PASTOR
of
Discipleship and Missions Employment Status:
Full-time, > 40 hours. Reports to Senior Pastor and SPR Committee. How does this position fulfill our mission to "make disciples who make a difference"? By overseeing our age level program ministries and our missions opportunities at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, this person helps to create opportunities for people to grow in their discipleship through Bible study, small group, fellowship, and service opportunities for people of all ages.
Primary Responsibilities and Qualifications:
The person in this role will create opportunities for people to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and to put their faith into action through mission and service. Preference will be given to ordained Deacons in The United Methodist Church. However, laypersons with comparable ministry experience, strong leadership skills, and deep spiritual grounding will also be considered, with the position designated as Director of Discipleship and Missions rather than Associate Pastor in that case. WORD Teaches regularly in Bible studies and in children's and youth programming Offers pastoral counsel, applying the teachings of scripture as understood in United Methodist doctrine Preaches in weddings, funerals, and 6-12 times a year in Sunday morning services. Oversees the discipleship ministries of the church from cradle to grave. Acts as the Adult Discipleship Coordinator overseeing and helping to generate new Sunday School classes, small groups, and super clubs. Fills in as needed or requested by the senior pastor ORDER Supervises Director of Student Ministries and Director of Children's Ministries Supervises the Technology Specialist and Director of Hospitality and Food Services Serves on the Child Development Center (CDC) Advisory Board SERVICE Coordinates Love Mob (Love Mobile) Service Day Establishes and coordinates quarterly service opportunties Oversees our mission programs in the church
- Meals on Wheels, Society of Saint Stephens, the Community Garden Supports our mission partners
- Leinkauf Elementary School, Dumas Wesley Community Center, Waterfront Mission, Babies First, Etc.
Volunteers time in service to agencies and boards of the United Methodist Church Coordinates staff service project opportunities (Go-to-Know Days) Acts as a team-player on the church staff, assisting outside of this position's primary responsibilities when needed or as assigned.
COMPASSION AND JUSTICE
Makes pastoral visits on a regular schedule coordinated with the pastoral staff Connects with new visitors, as assigned or requested by the senior pastor Serves as a liaison to our Racial Justice and Reconciliation Group.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Compensation
- $65,000 For Lay Employee Retirement
