Job Description
Key Responsibilities The Next-Gen Pastor position primarily focuses on the youth and young adult activities. The purpose of this position is to build and maintain a healthy youth group and oversee the children s ministry. The applicant must have a strong desire to work with children, youth, and young adults to foster growth. The ability to work with whole families to provide support and build relationships is important to this role. This position is full-time. It involves some work activities to be accomplished during evening hours and on weekends. It is expected that the Next-Gen Pastor will be at the church office at least 25 hours a week, conducting activities related to the church and respective position. Job Activities Include (but not all inclusive) Align with River Church s doctrinal statement and mission Work closely with and report to the Senior Pastor Plan and prepare Sunday School lessons and all needed materials for kindergarten through 6th grade Plan and prepare weekly lessons for River Youth Group (6th - 12th grade) while creating a welcoming place for students to attend Oversee/provide training to volunteers serving as helpers in such areas as the nursery, VBS, and Sunday School Manage all aspects of a yearly VBS program as well as youth summer and winter camps Lead/Participate in a wide range of outreach activities within the church and outside of the church, including evangelism and community engagement. This includes working/teaching with the Senior Pastor on the yearly Spiritual Growth Campaign, conducting youth group nights/outings and Bible studies. May participate in other activities such as jail ministry, worship, opening prayer at County and Town Board Meetings, food banks, and other community tasks that may be undertaken in the future as part of River Church s outreach Participate in Sunday services Ability to develop and teach from lesson plans Ability to preach and teach effectively in both large and small group settings Fill in for the Senior Pastor during his absences.
