Associate Pastor

Job Description

Associate Pastor Outreach and Assimilation Department:
Church Administration Reports to:
Lead Pastor Position Summary:
This role exists to support and extend the ministry vision of the Lead Pastor through servant leadership, a Christ-centered life, and a commitment to pastoral excellence. The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Lead Pastor and church staff to develop, implement, and oversee the strategies, systems, and processes that advance Life Church s discipleship strategy. This role will also provide administrative support, help lead and strengthen outreach efforts, and preach faithfully as needed.
Qualifications:
Be a lover of Christ and committed to the inspiration and authority of the Word of God Be in theological agreement and shared convictions with the Life Church mission, beliefs and values Possess personal integrity Must be humble and teachable Demonstrate a strong work ethic and excellence in previous ministry environments Skilled at mobilizing people within a congregation and executing strategy Gifted communicator An understanding of Ancient-Future worship, rooted in historic Word and Sacramental practices while thoughtfully contextualizing them for our current cultural context. An educational background in Christian ministries, Biblical Studies or related field, preferably be seminary trained and ordained A minimum of five years of ministry experience in a church of 500 or more attendees
Responsibilities:
Work with the Lead Pastor and staff to develop and oversee the methods and processes of the Life Church Discipleship Strategy Teach and model the Life Church Discipleship Strategy to Life Church groups, classes, ministry leaders and all believers according to spiritual maturity Coordinate with the Lead Pastor and staff to creatively develop the Life Church community outreach programs and beliefs Oversee the Volunteer Director of Life Church Connection and Hospitality Ministries to ensure a Christ-like welcome and follow-up to guests Oversee an assimilation process that will lead guests to connect with Life Church by belonging to a small group and/or serving in a ministry within Life Church or a Life Church Mission Partner Oversee the team that trains small group leaders and development of small groups Identify persons within Life Church that have leadership potential and a passion for outreach, assimilation or small groups and then develop those persons for leadership within these ministries Oversee the tracking and reporting of Church-wide outreach events, assimilation and small groups in the planning center Preach on a rotation of 6-12 times a year Build and oversee the Alpha Team, creating a welcoming space where people can explore the Christian faith, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations about Jesus. Teach when and where needed as approved or directed by the Lead Pastor Conduct visitation and perform various types of pastoral care/duties as approved or directed by the Lead Pastor Collaborate with the Lead Pastor, Creative Director, and Production Teams to develop engaging online content that extends the church s ministry and mission beyond Sunday gatherings. Develop and exercise personal evangelism within and outside Life Church Assist the Lead Life Church Pastor in managing the church s budget Lead staff meetings and coordinate staff efforts in the Lead Pastor s absence, under the direction and within the vision established by the Lead Pastor Maintain a continued growth of personal calling and walk with the Lord through Bible study and prayer
