Responsibilities:
The Chaplain provides spiritual care that meets the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, patients' families, medical staff, and employees. Provides spiritual care in a hospital setting and at times within other facilities in the corporation. Provides an active presence and is a professional member of the interdisciplinary care team. Makes assessments of the patient's spiritual needs and/or concerns. May provide and/or coordinate bereavement services. Makes referrals to our contacts with community religious leaders on behalf of the patient, to meet their specific religious needs. Respects and supports the spirituality of patients and staff without attempting to proselytize.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's Degree in Divinity, Religion, or Theology required Ordination or endorsement in good standing is required within one (1) year of hire or transfer into position, and must be maintained throughout employment 4 units of certified Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required Master's Degree in Divinity, Religion, or Theology preferred Board Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains preferred High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate and 6 years of ministry experience may be substituted for Bachelor's Degree and experience requirement Experience 2 years of ministry experience providing spiritual care required 2 years of ministry experience in a hospital setting preferred 2 years of Palliative or Hospice experience preferred Bilingual - Spanish speaking preferred Licenses and Certifications DL - Valid California Driver's License and driving record acceptable to Community Health System required
