Part-time Kids Ministry Director Friends Church Sacramento Sacramento, CA Job Details Part-time $20 - $25 an hour 14 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Volunteer management Collaboration Team development Leadership Full Job Description Overview The Kids Ministry Director plays a vital role in the spiritual formation of children and families at Friends Church. This part-time position is responsible for leading and overseeing our Kids Ministry, creating a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered environment where children can grow in their faith. With an eye toward the future, the Kids Ministry Director will also work intentionally toward developing a youth ministry as our kids grow older. This role is ideal for a relational, organized, and spiritually grounded leader who can equip volunteers, partner with parents, and collaborate with church staff to support the discipleship of the next generation. On a typical Sunday, the Kids Ministry serves approximately 15-25 children . Duties Lead and oversee all aspects of Kids Ministry programming, primarily on Sunday mornings. Create engaging, age-appropriate environments that help children encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers to serve effectively and consistently. Ensure a safe and welcoming ministry by implementing child safety policies, check-in procedures, and classroom guidelines. Communicate clearly with parents regarding schedules, curriculum, events, and spiritual formation goals. Collaborate with pastoral staff to align Kids Ministry with the overall vision and teaching of Friends Church. Plan and coordinate special events and seasonal programming (e.g., Advent, Easter, summer activities). Begin laying the groundwork for a future youth ministry by building relationships with older children and families and identifying next steps. Foster a culture of teamwork, encouragement, and spiritual growth among volunteers and families. Time Commitment Part-time role, up to 10 hours per week Expected availability on Sunday mornings Additional hours for planning, communication, volunteer coordination, and occasional events Qualifications A growing and evident relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for discipling children and families. Experience serving or leading in children's ministry, youth ministry, or a related context. Strong communication skills with children, parents, and volunteers. Demonstrated leadership ability, especially in recruiting and supporting volunteers. Organizational skills and the ability to manage time well in a part-time role. A basic understanding of child development and age-appropriate faith formation. Ability to work collaboratively with church staff while remaining self-motivated and proactive. Flexibility and creativity to adapt to the needs of a growing and evolving church.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
