The Pastor will be tasked with casting and implementing a vision for ministry across the entire church. Working in conjunction with the Elders, Staff and congregation to fulfill the Vision, Goals and Objectives of the Church. The church government consists of the Elders and Pastor. He must understand and practice "policy governance. All boards, committees, organizations, and ministries will be accountable (directly or indirectly) to the Pastor, who is accountable to the Elders, whose meetings he will be expected to attend.

1 Tim. 3:1-8, Titus 1:6-9, Peter 5:1-4 Bible college and/or seminary graduate Must be wholeheartedly committed to the GACC Statement of Faith and Bylaws. Proven experience in ministry leadership (5 years min., pastoral preferred, not required) Highly organized self-starter Solid verbal and written communication skills Effective management skills Well-developed interpersonal skills: mature, tactful, reflective of the character of Christ. Able to effectively communicate the Word of God with relevant application to a multi-generational congregation. Committed to biblical discipleship and evangelism as given in Matthew 28. Ability to cast vision and lead individuals, teams, and congregation to accomplish that vision. Able to effectively lead and manage staff to accomplish church goals. A willingness to embrace both a modern and classic style of worship. Experienced in working with youth and young families.
Pastor Responsibilities:
Engaged in a consistent prayer life and diligent study of the Scripture for the spiritual growth of the church community (Acts 6:4). Supervise church staff, Worship leaders and children's ministry director. Develop, train and mentor lay leaders and volunteers, and provide accountability as they carry out the vision of the church. Serve as the primary preacher on Sunday mornings. Teach or arrange for special seminars, classes, and retreats. Work collaboratively with the Worship Team to provide overall direction to the worship services. See to it that all church staff counseling shall be done Biblically and ethically and make referrals to Christian counselors as needed.
Ideal Candidate:
A pastor who is looking to grow, as the church grows. Although pastoral experience is a plus, extensive experience is not essential. The church is willing to grow an associate pastor into the role of lead pastor. Our current pastor and elders are wiling to mentor and grow the new pastor in the role, if needed. Shared Responsibility with Elders Develop vision and goals for the church in conjunction with elder board staff and lead the church in fulfilling its vision. Communicate vision and build church unity by motivating the body to actively support a common purpose and direction. Bring discernment and focus to priorities that support that vision. Build a climate of teamwork, accountability, and growth within the church family. Model and maintain a culture of discipleship in the congregation. Train, encourage and participate with the congregation in evangelistic ministry both locally and globally. Lead the congregation into a life of service and prayer. Be responsible for visiting/contacting the sick, shut-ins, hospitalized, and needy. Conduct funerals and weddings and provide premarital counseling. Attend all elder board, staff, and congregation meetings. Personal Development Responsibilities Maintain a healthy and consistent personal devotional and prayer life. Establish and protect a healthy balance between Church and family responsibilities. Committed to being a life-long learner with a teachable heart. Develop relationships with other pastors, churches, and Christian ministries in the community. Attend annual Pastor Conferences for your own personal growth.
Accountability:
Directly responsible to the Elders. Submit to an annual review and evaluation of his ministry and goals by the Elders. Who is Gray Avenue Christian Church? Gray Avenue Christian Church is a multi-generational small congregation that whole-heartedly serves the local neighborhood in which it is located, as well as the greater Sutter and Yuba County area. Our local neighborhood consists of a local elementary school, many apartments and condominiums, in addition to single family homes. Located in Yuba City, our city is a multi-ethnic community that feels like a small rural farming town but has everything you need to live and thrive. We are close to the ocean and the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. We are seeking a full-time Pastor who has the same heart and passion for our community as we do. Who loves God, loves His word, and loves His people. Our Pastor will be the visible, spiritual leader of the congregation, helping it to accomplish God s purposes through his gifts of preaching, teaching and shepherding. Our Pastor will live a life of humility, strive to model servant leadership, and who is passionately focused on building community. He will be a proven team player who leads by example to serve, equip, mentor and to send our members to the community and to all parts of the world.
Salary range:
Negotiable. Minimum $70,000/year commensurate with education and experience.
