Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Chaplain Resident to join our team for the period from October 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. This paid internship position requires candidates to have completed Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units, demonstrating their commitment to spiritual care and pastoral development. As a Chaplain Resident, you will provide spiritual support, guidance, and counseling to diverse patient populations, families, and staff within a healthcare or community setting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills, deepen your theological knowledge, and gain hands-on experience in pastoral care across various contexts. Your energetic approach and strong communication skills will help foster healing and hope in challenging situations. Duties Deliver spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and staff facing health crises or terminal illness Conduct bereavement support sessions and facilitate grief counseling for individuals and groups Provide religious guidance aligned with patients' faith backgrounds through pastoral counseling and spiritual direction Lead religious services, prayer sessions, and educational presentations on biblical theology and religious studies Assist in crisis intervention efforts during emergencies or conflicts within the healthcare environment Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address spiritual needs as part of holistic patient care Plan and facilitate faith-based events, workshops, and community outreach activities that promote spiritual well-being Mentor fellow students or interns in pastoral theology and religious leadership practices Experience Completion of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units is required; prior experience in hospice care or nonprofit faith-based organizations is highly desirable Proven ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities and respect different spiritual perspectives Strong background in teaching religious studies, biblical theology, or Christian counseling Demonstrated skills in public speaking, event planning, crisis management, and conflict resolution Experience providing bereavement support or terminal illness counseling in a healthcare or community setting Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly Prior work as a clergyperson or in religious leadership roles is beneficial but not mandatory Join us as a Chaplain Resident to make a meaningful difference through compassionate spiritual care.
