CHAPLAIN
provides spiritual care, religious practices, and grief support to, and in partnership with, patients, families, visitors, and staff regardless of faith tradition or lack thereof. These responsibilities include spiritual assessments and counseling, religious rites and rituals, grief and bereavement work, and crisis intervention. The
CHAPLAIN
facilitates continuity of spiritual care through timely communication, advocacy, and initiating referrals to faith group leaders in the local community as needed; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. The
CHAPLAIN
acts as a resource/specialist for spiritual and religious care surrounding illness, ethics, and end-of-life; and presents on these topics to patients, families, and volunteer groups within the hospital. The

is knowledgeable on world religions, humanism, and palliative care practices relative to healthcare and end-of-life; and represents and supports the mission, philosophy, and goals of the Cancer Center. The
