Purpose of Position:

To serve as a staff member within the congregation and community, to minister, grow the youth ministry program, and to connect with families in our church and community.

While the work schedule for Student Ministries can be somewhat flexible, office/on-campus hours should take place Monday-Thursday. Special attention and focus should be given to Sundays and special events. Sunday (Morning Worship, Sunday School, Evening Worship and Small Groups)

Hours Per Week:

25 hours per week with flexible office hours

Staff Responsibilities:

(Include, but are not limited to.) 1) Coordinate and direct Student Ministry of Buford First UMC. 2) Recruit and train adult volunteers to serve with and lead students. 3) Be present and available during Sunday School and Morning Worship Services. 4) Coordinate and oversee Sunday and other special programming including age-appropriate curriculum selection and class/age grouping in collaboration with a Lead Pastor and Parent Committee. 5) Communicates the needs of the student ministry program to other staff and church leaders as appropriate. 6) Coordinate and oversee the planning and implementation of all annual retreats in the fall and spring. Engages youth in a summer mission opportunity. 7) Work with Music Minister to support Youth Choir and Youth Choir Tour events. 8) Work with Children's Director to collaborate with during combined church events. 9) Attend weekly staff meetings and send out weekly email and social media posts. 10) Additional duties may be assigned from time to time by direct supervisor or BFUMC Board.
