Position Summary The Children's Ministry Director provides spiritual leadership for the church's ministry to children from birth through fifth grade. This leader creates a safe, joyful, Christ-centered environment where children encounter God's love through worship, biblical teaching, fellowship, and service. Working alongside parents, volunteers, church staff, and the congregation, the Children's Ministry Director develops opportunities that help children build a lasting foundation of faith while fostering meaningful connections throughout the church family. The Children's Ministry Director reports to the Senior Pastor and serves as a collaborative member of the church staff. Qualifications Spiritual Character A vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A lifestyle marked by Christian integrity, humility, and servant leadership. Agreement with the doctrine, mission, and values of the Global Methodist Church and Toccoa First Methodist Church. Calling A genuine love for children and families. A heart for discipleship rather than simply programming. A passion for equipping volunteers and building ministry teams. The ability to inspire children to know, love, and follow Christ. Experience Experience leading children's ministry, Christian education, elementary education, or a related field preferred. Bachelor's degree in Ministry, Education, Childhood Development, or a related field preferred (or equivalent ministry experience). Excellent relational, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Primary Responsibilities 1. Children's Ministry Leadership Provide vision and leadership for ministry from birth through fifth grade. Plan and oversee Nursery, Sunday School, and Wednesday's TFMC Kids Select and implement biblically faithful curriculum. Create engaging discipleship experiences. Build relationships with children and families. 2. Family Discipleship Partner with parents as primary disciples. Welcome new families. Communicate regularly. Help children transition successfully into Youth Ministry. 3. Volunteer Leadership Recruit, train, schedule, encourage, and appreciate volunteers. Develop future ministry leaders. Ensure Safe Sanctuaries compliance. 4. Events & Intergenerational Ministry Coordinate Vacation Bible School. Lead children's participation in Christmas and Easter programming. Support Wednesday evening discipleship. Coordinate family ministry events with Youth and Senior Pastor collaboration. Collaborate with Youth, Worship, Invite, Grow, and Serve teams to promote children's presence in all aspects of the church. 5. Administration Develop annual ministry goals. Coordinate with Grow chair concerning the ministry budget. Maintain attendance and volunteer records. Coordinate curriculum and supplies. Participate in staff meetings and ministry planning. 6. Professional Development Attend conferences and training. Pursue continuing education. Stay current on best practices. Success in This Role Success is measured by lives transformed—not simply attendance.
