Job Description

Job Description Purpose:
To serve as an elder and spiritual leader of Solid Rock Baptist Church by faithfully preaching and teaching God's Word, equipping the church to make disciples, providing visionary leadership, and leading the congregation in fulfilling the Great Commission. Full-time Qualifications Meets the biblical qualifications for a pastor/elder/overseer as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
Experience:
prefer 5 or more years experience as a lead elder of associated/lay elder. A commitment to the authority, sufficiency, and faithful exposition of God's Word.
  • Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and the mission, doctrine, and convenant/by laws of Solid Rock Baptist Church.
  • A desire to lead the church leadership team, staff, and congregation in unity as we fulfill Ephesians 4:11-13 by equipping the saints for the work of ministry.
  • A commitment to maintaining active membership and fostering cooperation with local, state, and national Southern Baptist Convention affiliations.
Responsibilities:
Preaching and Teaching
  • Serve as the primary preacher and teacher of the church through faithful, biblical, expositional personal spirit lead teaching and preaching.
  • Lead the congregation in understanding and applying God's Word to everyday life.
  • Protect the doctrinal integrity of the church through clear and sound biblical teaching.
  • Oversee the teaching ministry of the church and ensure all teaching aligns with the church's statement of faith. Vision and Leadership
  • Provide spiritual, visionary, and strategic leadership for the church.
  • Work alongside the church leaders to establish goals, priorities, and ministry strategies.
  • Foster a healthy, unified, and Christ-centered culture among the leaders, and congregation.
  • Provide regular guidance, encouragement, and accountability to ministry leaders. Shepherding and Discipleship
  • Shepherd the congregation through prayer, pastoral care, biblical counseling, and encouragement.
  • Equip believers to grow into mature followers of Christ who make disciples.
  • Invest in the development of current and future church leaders.
  • Assist with hospital visitation, home visits, funerals, weddings, and other pastoral care responsibilities as needed. Outreach and Missions
  • Lead the church to actively engage the local community and the nations with the gospel.
  • Encourage a culture of evangelism and missions.
  • Build relationships within the community that advance the Kingdom of God and strengthen the church's gospel witness.
  • Support and encourage partnerships with the Southern Baptist Convention and their entities. Administration
  • Work with church leadership to oversee the stewardship of the church's resources.
  • Participate in the development of the annual plan and budget.
  • Ensure church policies and ministries operate with integrity, accountability, effectiveness, and excellence. Personal Responsibilities
  • Model a growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ.
Maintain a consistent life of prayer, personal Bible study, and spiritual leadership. Lead with humility, integrity, and a servant's heart. 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
