Job Description
St. Michael's Episcopal Cathedral in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Christ-centered educator to serve as our full-time Lay Canon for Christian Formation. The Canon will lead our congregation in growing deeper in the knowledge and love of God, providing vision and leadership for Christian formation among children, youth, families, and adults. This role will creatively engage children and youth in the worship and life of the Cathedral while cultivating opportunities for biblical and spiritual formation across generations.
Position Description
Develop & implement a comprehensive vision for Christian formation from early childhood through 12th grade, along with a strategic vision for adult formation.
Build relationships with and among Cathedral families, provide resources, and support
Recruit, equip, & train, adult volunteers serving in Children's & Youth Formation.
Oversee required volunteer training in the prevention of misconduct and sexual abuse.
Compensation and Benefits
$65,000 annually
Two weeks annual Paid Time Off
9% pension payment (4% base with up to 5% match)

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a Christ-centered person of faith who is comfortable working in a theologically & politically diverse community that encourages a "big tent" worshiping environment
Advanced degree in a related field, preferred, bachelor's degrees considered
Previous youth ministry experience
Current experience with Episcopal ecclesiology & liturgy
