Job Description

Overview Part-time Lay Minister for the Quincy Unitarian Church, Quincy, Illinois;
West-Central IL Description:
The Quincy Unitarian Church, founded in 1839, is a small congregation in Quincy, Illinois, Adams County, that is seeking a part-time Minister to lead our congregation. We are looking for a spiritually mature, engaging lay-minister with experience in pastoral care and community outreach. As a congregation we adhere to the Principles of Unitarian Universalism.
Ministerial Requirements and Qualities:
Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in liberal arts and an emphasis on the humanities, with at least 5 years relevant experience Preferred background in religious studies A demonstrated knowledge of
Unitarian Universalism Preferred:
Master's degree in the liberal arts with at least 10 years relevant experience preferred Capability to grow ministries and work with church leadership Ability to engage and inspire people to participate in social justice
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and deliver inspirational messages on a part-time basis Provide spiritual and pastoral care to congregants Design congregational workshops and moderate discussion groups Lead church outreach initiatives and pastoral administration
Additional Responsibilities:
Coordinate with the worship team on the planning of Sunday services, including the identification of service themes and speakers Building interpersonal relationships, welcoming visitors and new members, and being an accessible presence at congregational meetings, activities, and other major events as the ministerial schedule allows Either in-person or virtually, attend Board meetings and provide monthly written reports to the Board. Summarize ministerial activities in the monthly congregational Newsletter. Officiate funerals, weddings, and other rites of passage for members of the congregation
