POSITION
The Christian Ministry Department, within the School of Christian Studies at Asbury University, invites applications and nominations for an open-rank, tenure-track position in Pastoral & Christian Ministries beginning August 2027.
Ministry is an important dimension to the Asbury University campus and to the historic life of the church. The Ministry programs have a robust curriculum that informs each undergraduate students' instruction in preparation for ministry, in use of bible and theology for ministry, and in cultivating a formative student learning experience. The position seeks a strong commitment to ministry, congregational and leadership experience, and excellent academic qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and program management activities equivalent to 24 credit-hours in an academic year. This would include teaching majors courses in undergraduate Pastoral, Educational, and Christian Ministries; teaching courses in the graduate Ministry Innovation program; co-maintaining the curriculum (recommending periodic modifications as desired); supervising program activities; advising students in the majors; serving on assigned department and university committees; and providing leadership and active participation in campus activities as a representative of the programs.
ACADEMIC RANK
Academic rank at the Assistant or Associate Professor level commensurate with experience. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should possess a strong academic foundation in Pastoral, Educational, or Christian Ministry, as well as congregational and leadership experience while on staff with a church or parachurch ministry. A doctorate in Ministry (Ph.D., D.Min.) or closely related field is expected. Doctoral candidates close to completion (all but dissertation) will be considered.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants with the most appropriate academic credentials, teaching experience in Ministry at the undergraduate or graduate level, and field experience in ministry and leadership. A marked enthusiasm for investing in student professional formation, along with an ability to articulate that vision, is desired. An inclination to organizational administration is desired. teaching or learning experience is not required but is an advantage for applicants; a willingness to adapt to distance-oriented teaching modalities is necessary, given the shifts taking place in higher education. A strong academic foundation in bible and theology is not required but is an advantage for applicants.
COMPENSATION
Compensation is competitive and dependent upon education and experience. Benefits include retirement (TIAA/CREF) and insurance plans.
