Galilee Baptist Church Music Director Job Description General Description The music director will be responsible for providing leadership in planning, supervising, and facilitating effective worship through music consistent with the overall mission of the church. Qualifications
  • True disciple of Jesus Christ with a sincere desire to serve.
  • Ability to balance priorities between home and ministry.
  • Ability to lead, organize, recruit, delegate, encourage, motivate, and work with others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both interpersonally as well as in public settings.
  • Ability to read music.
  • Ability to take direction and work as a team member.
  • Available to meet weekly for practice.
  • Interest in organizing special performances, such as holiday choir events and similar activities.
  • Available for special events beyond Sunday worship, including choir for holidays, working with children, youth, funerals for members, and music-related activities.
  • Available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week onsite at the church office. Accountability The music director shall report directly to the pastoral staff and collaborate closely with all relevant committees and church leadership. Duties and Responsibilities The Music Director manages all music activities, collaborates closely with staff as a team member, and reports to the pastoral staff.
  • Select and recommend music for worship.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers or musicians.
  • Manage the music ministry budget.
  • Communicate music ministry needs to staff and leadership.
All employees will conduct him or herself in accordance with any terms of employment specified in the Bylaws or Church Operating Manual.
