POSITION
ANNOUNCEMENT- Graduate Assistant for Residence Life Spiritual Mentor Program Mount Vernon Nazarene University exists to shape lives through educating the whole person and cultivating Christ-likeness for lifelong learning and service. The position reports to the Director of Residence Life and will begin upon appointment benefitof a successfulextendingcandidatethrough. Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Serve as an active member of the Residence Life team, supporting the overall mission and collaborating with Resident Directors to foster a strong- residential community.
  • Lead the organization and implementation of Spiritual Mentor specific training, including coordinating schedules, inviting guest speakers, and developing discipleship-focused learning opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Resident Directors, who serve as the primary supervisors of Spiritual Mentors, by providing additional support, guidance, and spiritual development resources.
  • Provide relational, developmental, and spiritual support to Spiritual Mentors, including participating in semester one-on-one check-ins and offering additional support when needed in partnership with the RD.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Residence Life and the Spiritual Life department, helping facilitate collaboration and shared initiatives between departments.
  • Assist with Residence Life departmental projects, events, and administrative needs as part of the broader Residence Life team.
  • Participate in the weekly on-call duty rotation ExpectationsBachelor'sfor the succdegree;ssful candidate:
  • Evangelical Ch istian confession of faith and experience;
  • One year of experience in residence life or other area of university campus leadership (preferred);
  • Ability to integrate Christian discipleship into the context of university living and learning;
  • Understanding and appreciation of the heritage, doctrine and practices of the Church of the Nazarene;
  • Working understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Clear and concise interpersonal communication, must be comfortable in small and large group settings, and in communicating with students and their parents;
  • Spirit of hospitality and inclusivity;
