Organized in 1852, Union Baptist relocated from a North Street location to our current sanctuary in the 1200 block of Druid Hill Avenue (dedicated in 1905). It is the first church in Baltimore City built "by Negroes for Negroes" and was granted its listing on the US National Register of Historical Places in 2010. In its 174 years of existence, Union Baptist Church has consistently had a rich history of pastoral leadership, evangelism, and community involvement and outreach. The ideal pastor should be prepared to grow the church and lead it into the future while maintaining Union's roots as a Servant Church in the community. In seeking leadership to fill this role, the congregation envisions the preferred candidate to have prior experience pastoring and be able to serve as a spiritual mentor, community leader, and church administrator, fostering a welcoming and collaborative environment that nurtures faith and personal growth. This pastorate will require a strong commitment to Christian values and principles (including social justice) in alignment with the Biblical doctrine found in 1 Timothy 3: 1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. He/she is expected to have the ability to inspire others through teaching, preaching, and outreach to diverse communities in the local community and beyond while serving a multi-generational congregation. Duties Prepare and deliver sermons, Bible study lessons, and religious services that resonate with diverse and multi-generational congregational needs. Offer pastoral counseling and mentoring to individuals seeking spiritual or emotional assistance. Lead community outreach programs, including event planning and participation in community service initiatives. Facilitate crisis intervention and conflict management within the congregation and community. Support members in times of crisis and bereavement by providing comfort and guidance. Work with, and support training of, the Boards of the church, the Worship Committee Oversee operational staff Maintain effective communication with congregation members. Experience and Skills At least five years of pastoral experience (Senior or Associate - Senior preferred) Possess at least a master's degree in divinity, religious studies, or a related discipline Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to foster trust and inspire others. Ability to handle crisis situations with sensitivity, professionalism, and sound judgment. Skills in community outreach, and program development with a track record of commitment to social justice

$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
