Job Description
St. John's Episcopal Church is seeking a Minister of Music to lead its congregational worship, direct choir programs, and manage community music outreach. This role combines keyboard proficiency, choir leadership, and administrative stewardship to nurture a vibrant liturgical tradition.
Key Responsibilities
Worship & Liturgies:
Serve as organist for Sunday services (8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.), feast days, Evensongs, weddings, and funerals. Select all service music in collaboration with the Rector.
Choir & Talent Development:
Direct parish choirs, train cantors/soloists, and establish a dynamic chorister program for youth.
Program Management:
Oversee the St. John's Music Series, chair its Steering Committee, manage fundraising, and build local community partnerships.
Administration:
Manage music budgets, maintain the music library, oversee instrument care/organ restoration, and hire guest musicians as needed.
