Hospice Chaplain Actively seeking an experienced Hospice Chaplain for the Portland and surrounding area. This hospice also utilizes several unique alternative therapies in conjunction with their quality of care and is very patient centered. This stable, multi state company is a premier provider of end-of-life care and has experienced substantial growth. The Hospice Chaplain will provide spiritual counsel and emotional support to active and bereaved Hospice patients/families and serve as liaison between community clergy and Hospice staff. The Chaplain is committed to the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospice philosophy. Full time position.

Responsibilities:

Supports our organization mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with on focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers. Assists the Interdisciplinary Care Team in evaluating and assessing patient/care spiritual needs. Visits to patients, with a life-limiting illness and their families, provides direct spiritual counsel, prayer and ritual/sacramental ministry if desired. Makes direct contact with clergy for patients and/or families who need assistance in contacting a clergy person. Conducts memorial/funeral services for those families not affiliated with a church and who desire the chaplain's participation. Participates in developing the Interdisciplinary Care Plan both as a consultant and as a provider of direct services. Assists members of the Interdisciplinary Care Team to understand the significant spiritual concerns related to the patient/family response to dying. Participates on the bereavement team in providing follow up services and counseling. Assists in developing and providing educational and public relations programs for staff, general community, and clergy community. Maintains contact with appropriate seminary, education and pastoral care groups for self-education and support. Performs other duties as assigned. Completes time sheets accurately.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred in theology/divinity or equivalent The Ecclesiastical endorsement and standing in his/her religious body preferred. The ability to function within non-denominational interfaith guidelines. Experience with pastoral counseling to patients/families coping with terminal illnesses and end of life transitions. Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Valid ME Drivers license and current auto liability insurance.
