Chelsea, MI What You'll Do:
As a Minister of Music , you'll lead meaningful worship experiences through music, helping residents connect, reflect, and engage in community. In this role, you'll plan and provide music for Sunday and midweek worship services, lead weekly hymn sings, and organize and direct a resident choir. You'll guide rehearsals, select appropriate music, and create an environment where residents feel encouraged to participate and grow in confidence and connection. You'll also spend time preparing and practicing for services, collaborating with team members on worship planning, and occasionally supporting additional programming or groups. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with older adults in a healthcare setting, adapting your approach to meet a variety of needs while fostering a sense of comfort, dignity, and belonging through music Department Admin Employment Type Flexible Location Chelsea, MI Workplace type Onsite Compensation $23.00 / hour Key Responsibilities Plan and provide music for Sunday, midweek worship services, and weekly hymn sings Organize, direct, and rehearse a resident choir, including music selection and performance preparation Lead worship through keyboard accompaniment and choral direction Prepare and practice for all assigned services and programming Collaborate with team members on worship planning and spiritual life programming Facilitate additional groups or music-related programming as assigned Engage residents in a meaningful and inclusive way, supporting participation across varying abilities Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing ministry development The above is a summary of the position, it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties this position will be required to perform. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Experience in keyboard accompaniment and directing choral groups in a Christian worship setting Ability to simultaneously accompany and lead a vocal choir Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage older adults Comfort working in a healthcare or senior living environment (experience preferred) Sensitivity to working with individuals experiencing dementia or end-of-life care (preferred) Familiarity with basic technology, including audio/visual equipment and Microsoft Office Ability to move throughout the community and lead both small and large group settings Flexible availability, including Sundays, evenings, and occasional holidays Job Benefits Retirement Savings Plan
