  • Part-time Looking for a part time Senior Minister or Lay Minister to serve our Church time.
The Minister is the spiritual leader of Arbor Grove Congregational Church (AG), leading the congregation in worship, pastoral calling, providing counseling as needed, responding to individual member's needs in time of personal crisis and helping members in their individual journeys in exploring and developing their spiritual lives.
Essential Duties:
Provides spiritual leadership and pastoral care for the congregation Provides support and guidance for church officers, boards and committees Provides general oversight and coordination of the programs of all boards and committee activities toward shared objectives Provides general supervision of the church staff as identified and established by the Board of Trustees Plans and leads weekly (Sunday) worship services Plans and leads special worship services as required by AG's church seasons and traditions such as Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and pulpit exchange with Temple Beth Israel Administers the sacraments of communion and baptism as part of the worship service Conducts classes for those considering church membership Teaches confirmation classes for youth interested in church membership
Additional Duties:
  • Provides pastoral care as needs arise
  • Provides pastoral care for passage of life celebrations such as weddings and funerals
  • Visits members and parishioners in hospitals, nursing homes, and members' homes
  • Visits other parishioners as time and circumstances permit
Support, Resource and Administration:
  • Serves as an officer and member of the Church Council
  • Serves as an Ex-Officio member of all boards and committees of the church-providing support and counsel as requested
  • Responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of the church
  • Acts as supervisor to the Church Secretary
  • Coordinates all church correspondence and newsletters with the Church Secretary Congregational Meetings-as budget allows:
  • Represents the church at meetings of the Central Michigan and Michigan Conference of Congregational Christian Churches
  • Attends and participates in the Annual Meeting of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches
  • Attends the
Congregational Minister's Convocation Education Requirements:
A Masters in Divinity is preferred
