Job Description

Liberty United Methodist Church in the Northland of Kansas City MO is seeking a Director of Traditional Worship. This individual will provide the necessary leadership and organization skills to help manage our two, weekly traditional services and chancel choir. This person will work with the Lead Pastor and Campus Pastor to plan, oversee, and provide excellence to Liberty UMC's Sunday Morning offerings with the focus on the worship experience. The position may be full-time or part-time. For the right candidate, we will consider schedules and responsibilities.
JOB DUTIES
Work with the Lead Pastor and Campus Pastor to plan the worship services. Lead the musical portion of worship services. Lead the traditional music ministries in the church, including choirs and multiple ensembles. Develop a process to regularly identify and deploy new volunteers in the church s worship ministry. Shepherd, train, manage, and care for the volunteers. Look for ways to inspire non-musical worship experiences for the church body. Oversee the campus worship tech ministry. Oversee the maintenance of all worship musical instruments owned by the church. Attend weekly staff meetings, staff retreats, and Leadership team meetings on an as needed basis, at the direction of the Lead Pastor. Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and all Sundays. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor s degree in music required, master s in music preferred. 5-7 years experience leading music worship in a similar church setting. Intermediate to knowledge of audio/visual equipment and related technology/software. Significant skill as a vocalist and competence as an instrumentalist. Broad knowledge of Christian music across multiple styles and generational tastes. Knowledge of the Christian church year and liturgy. Should have experience leading and managing teams. A calling to vocational church ministry. A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).
