Job Description

Job Summary :
To develop and lead the worship music ministry for FMC in consultation with the Lead Pastor and other team members in a way that is consistent with sound, progressive and authentic Christian spirituality.
Time Commitment :
This is a full-time salaried position. Sundays and holidays are a must. Rehearsal times with choirs and groups as arranged to act in all areas and receive input and guidance from Lead Pastor. Responsibilities & Duties Direct and conduct the Sanctuary Choirs. Direct and conduct the handbell choirs. Oversee music and the arts for the Contemporary Worship Service Build a comprehensive music program including children, youth and adults. Work in conjunction with the worship creative design team to develop weekly thematic worship. Select and plan music for Sunday and special services to include Holy Week, Christmas Season, and others decided upon by Lead Pastor and music team. Manage the music library in an effective way so that music is properly sorted, cataloged, and maintained. Ensure the system enables the director to know the music in the library. Work in cooperation with the church staff, music committee, sound ministry and other arts related ministries as deemed appropriate. Recruit, equip, motivate and shepherd the music team leaders and vocal and instrumental musicians. Develop soloists, music teams, and ensembles for services. Plan and execute the hiring and implementation of special musicians, orchestra, and soloist. Recommend and manage music budget in cooperation with the Music and Arts Committee. Hire and mentor college music interns as a part of ministry intern program. Attend a minimum of one compensated music/choral workshop per year for professional development. Bridge church and community through music, programs, and other outreach events. Perform other duties assigned by the Lead Pastor. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent experience. Formal choral conducting training. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Salary and Hours Salary is commensurate to level of education and experience. Benefits are provided per the guidelines established by the most recent Employee Handbook. This is a non-appointed, full-time position, 40 hours/week.
