Job Description

General Summary:
Compassionately address the needs of individuals and their families, by working directly with the poor/needy in our communities, serving on community councils and/or boards, and participating in community outreach activities to provide information and be a representative and assist in building a compassionate ministry for all services Sacred Heart Southern Missions provides. To carry out the mission and promote the values of Sacred Heart Southern Missions.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides tangible assistance to individuals and their families by administering direct aid to address the immediate needs of clients within a five-county region of northern
Mississippi:
Desoto, Tunica, Tate, Marshall and Benton counties included.
  • Serve compassionately as an information and referral source providing clients with resources available to them within the company and community.
  • Participates in outreach planning, implements special programs and collaboratively works with peers on events to promote our services to the needy.
  • Work with other programs in the community to provide educational support for clients who may need to obtain additional skills or referred to our educational programs, including the schools.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of caseload and services provided in client management system(s) within a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with local, state and federal government officials, and other agencies to influence positive, meaningful systematic change for clients we encounter.
  • As approved and designated by Social Services Manager, will serve on boards, committees and community councils related to the ministry in order to educate and advocate all services provided.
  • Conduct home visits with families in order to provide food to the food insecure, collect documentation for record-keeping and provide well-checks, as needed monthly.
  • Implement outreach and tabling events at community events, as needed to market our services to those in need.
  • Work collaboratively with appropriate staff; maintain professionalism and respect in the workplace at all times.
  • Inform Social Service Manager and Executive Director of Programs of essential information pertaining to the program and client caseload/data entry reporting or other information, as requested.
  • Participate in continuing education for professional development.
  • Performs other job duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Understanding of the vision and values of Sacred Heart Southern Missions with a commitment to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Ability to work and interact with others to accomplish overall organizational and departmental goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or equivalent in a related field with at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)
  • Ability to convey a positive, compassionate and professional image to clients, employees and leaders of Sacred Heart Southern Missions.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others' work flow.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication, and decision-making skills; ability to intervene quickly and effectively within a crisis intervention situation.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as establish and rearrange priorities in order to meet deadlines within a timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain effective communication and professionalism in the workplace - both verbally and in writing with all levels of employees, management, clients and representatives of partner agencies/councils.
  • Actively participates in prayer, professional development trainings, social service team meetings, VIRTUS Protection of Children online training and other certifications, as required.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and inform supervisor of essential information within a timely manner.

Position:
  • There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position
Physical Demands/Conditions:
  • General office setting; some time is required sitting at a computer and some moderate lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; walk; be able to lift up to 30 pounds; reach with hands and arms, bend at the waist, kneel or reach to retrieve files and records.
  • Normal business hours, however, this position may entail some evening and weekend work. Occasional travel to meet clients may be required
  • Occasional travel for POSH related activities may be required.
Reasonable Accommodations:
To successfully accomplish the essential job functions of the position, the employee must be able to read, write and speak in English, operate a computer and travel on occasion. Some lifting requirements may be accommodated by assistance from other staff members; repetitive wrist motion cannot be accommodated.
Pay:
$42,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
