At the East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian, MS, our foundation is based upon the philosophies of caring about others, giving back, and making a social impact. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping an at-risk population receive the treatment necessary for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life.Position Summary:
Reports to the deputy warden of programs. Responsible for religious programs including conduction regular and special religious services; providing pastoral care and counseling to offenders and supervising religious educational classes in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.Essential Functions:
1. Create, manage, and implement all religious programs of the facility. 2. Conduct religious services and religious education programs and schedule periodic special programs. 3. Serve as the point of contact for all outside faith-based activities, persons or groups requesting admittance to the facility. 4. Develop, maintain, and screen an ongoing list of local community volunteers interested in providing services to the facility. 5. Train and supervise volunteers working in chaplaincy programs. 6. Provide regular chaplaincy visitation rounds to new and existing offenders and offenders who are critically ill. 7. Counsel offenders on religious problems, personal issues, crisis intervention, grief and institutional adjustment. 8. Interact with offenders during their daily activities and provide appropriate moral and religious instruction. 9. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques. 10. Maintain accountability of offenders and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.Education and Experience Requirements:
Current ecclesiastical endorsement by denomination or ordination, completion of clinical pastoral education provided by denominational or interdenominational training organizations and two (2) years religious or related experience required. Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.Post Hire Requirements:
