Job Description

The Director of Discipleship provides leadership, vision, and oversight for the spiritual formation of the church. This role champions a culture where every person is growing as a disciple of Jesus and actively making disciples. This leader oversees the discipleship pathway of the entire church — from children through adults — and oversees the Kids and Student ministry staff. The goal of this role is not merely running programs, but building people: equipping leaders, aligning ministries, and shaping a church-wide culture of everyday discipleship in the home, church, and community. This leader will shepherd the congregation, preach and teach, lead staff and key volunteers, while staying deeply aligned with the Co-Lead pastors and the overall vision, doctrine, and culture of Citylight South Church. Educational & Experience ? Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred ? 3-5 years of ministry leadership experience
Key Responsibilities:
Spiritual & Cultural Leadership Have a vibrant relationship with Jesus. Have a knowledge of God's Word that is thorough, fresh, and personal. Shepherd the congregation toward Christ-likeness Lead, supervise, disciple, equip, serve, and shepherd the appointed staff and key volunteers Discipleship Strategy & Pathway Help implement a clear, church-wide discipleship pathway Ensure all ministries align around a shared definition of a disciple Help move people from being a guest to belonging to serving to a disciple maker Leadership Development & Multiplication Build & oversee a leadership pipeline Recruit, train, coach and multiply leaders Assist in developing city groups, classes, and ministry leaders Next Generation Oversight Supervise Kids & Student ministry staff Align Next Gen strategy with church-wide discipleship vision Equip and partner with parents to disciple their children Executive Leadership & Alignment Serve on leadership executive team Partner with Co-Lead Pastors in implementing vision and mission Evaluate discipleship ministry effectiveness
