Job Description
Job Overview Christ The King seeks a Youth Pastor to work 10-15 hours per week to enhance ministry to youth (grades 6-12) on Sundays and develop a midweek evening group twice a month. The overall goal of the Youth Pastor is to disciple youth in the love and knowledge of Christ, so that they in turn have a heart for service in our congregation and in the world. The Youth Pastor must be a follower of Jesus Christ and be an active member of a Christian congregation who is known and recommended by the congregation's pastor. Experience in youth ministry is preferred. Who We Are Looking For Spiritual maturity. A committed follower of Christ with a clear passion for ministering to youth, high moral character, patience, and a heart for shepherding young people through the challenges of adolescence. Experience and skill. Preferably over two years' experience, leading or serving in youth ministry, or in a related education or mentoring role. Able to teach the Bible in a way that holds a teenager's attention and to facilitate real group discussion. Creative and energetic in designing programs that appeal to youth. Leadership. Ability to lead and inspire a volunteer team, build community among volunteers, and care for their spiritual well-being. Strong administrative skills for scheduling. Communication. Excellent interpersonal skills with students, parents, and church leadership. Able to earn parents' trust and partner with them in their child's faith development. Tech and tools. Familiar with the social platforms students actually use and wise in how they are used for ministry. Team collaboration. Works in harmony with church staff and other ministry leaders, contributing to a unified vision of discipleship that includes all generations. Flexibility. Willing to be available for occasional off-site events. Willingness to increase workload and add hours to the position as the number of youth increases. Safety and integrity. Must pass required background checks and strictly adhere to all child and youth protection policies, including diocesan safeguarding requirements.
