Job Description

WHY WE EXIST
Mission Point Church exists to make healthy disciples of Jesus . We believe the church is called to make disciples, not merely maintain programs. Every ministry, every gathering, every dollar, and every leader exists to support our mission: Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples. We are a healthy, growing, multi-generational church in Mansfield, Ohio, committed to faithful preaching of God's Word, authentic biblical community, intentional disciple-making, and a heart for reaching our neighbors and the nations with the gospel. What we mean by "disciple" A disciple is a forgiven sinner who is following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and committed to Jesus' mission. Specifically, we believe a disciple is someone who is: Loving God with their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength
  • through worship, prayer, and obedience to Scripture. Loving others as Jesus has loved them
  • through sacrificial community, service, forgiveness, and generosity. Making disciples who do the same
  • investing in others, sharing the gospel, and multiplying leaders.
What we mean by "health" A healthy disciple is someone growing in all three areas with consistency and integrity. Health shows up in at least four ways: Spiritual health: A growing, personal relationship with Jesus through His Word, character, rest, and prayer.
Relational health:
Authentic, reconciled relationships with others; learning to walk in the light as Jesus is in the light.
Emotional health:
Self-awareness, humility, and the ability to process suffering and sin with grace rather than shame or denial.
Missional health:
Actively investing in others, and befriending the least, the last, and the lost.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a healthy disciple who makes disciples of the next generation. You love Jesus deeply. You love God's Word. You desire to shepherd God's people. You are committed to your ongoing growth as a follower of Jesus and are thus increasingly growing in the pastoral qualifications specified in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. You believe parents are the primary disciplers of their children, and you are passionate about equipping, encouraging, and supporting families in that calling. You do not see next generation ministry as a siloed program, but as the front lines of disciple-making in the local church. You have at least a Bachelor's level theological/biblical training. Experience in Next Gen Ministries is a plus. But more than credentials, you have a track record of personal discipleship
  • your life is evidence that you are following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and committed to His mission. You are excited to invest deeply in children, students, and young adults
  • not merely by leading ministries, but by helping cultivate a church where the next generation is known, loved, and equipped to love God, love others, and make disciples.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Next Gen Pastor fosters the discipleship of the next generation by cultivating a clear and intentional pathway that leads children, students, and young adults toward lifelong faith in Jesus Christ. Working closely with the Lead Pastor, Worship Pastor, Administrative Assistant, and the board of deacons and trustees, you will help ensure that Mission Point Church remains faithful to its mission.
Your Four Responsibilities:
Foster the Discipleship of the Next Generation Provide pastoral oversight and vision for ministries serving children, students, and young adults. Ensure biblical, Gospel-centered, age-appropriate teaching. Shepherd the next generation through relational ministry and intentional discipleship. Equip Families Partner with parents as the primary disciplers of their children. ? Encourage, resource, and communicate with families. Foster intergenerational discipleship. Develop Leaders Recruit, train, shepherd, and encourage volunteers. Develop future ministry leaders. Build healthy, unified ministry teams. Build a Discipleship Pathway Create a seamless discipleship pathway from childhood through young adulthood. Evaluate ministry effectiveness through the lens of disciple-making. ? Integrate the next generation into the broader life of the church. Success is measured not merely by attendance or activity, but by the steady growth of healthy disciples who love God, love others, and faithfully make disciples. If this vision resonates with you, we would love to begin a conversation. Please submit a resume and cover letter to info@missionpointmansfield.org.
