YOUTH PASTOR- PIQUA CAMPUS POSITION OVERVIEW

The youth pastor is primarily responsible for implementing a strategy and building a team that will partner with parents to disciple 6th-12th grade students. As teens grow in Jesus and take steps of faith, they will be equipped to punch holes in the darkness of their schools, neighborhoods, and teams. We want to see teens hearing and responding to God's voice and using their gifts and talents to serve because we believe in the next generation right now.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide leadership and direction for all ministries to 6th-12th graders and their families, which currently includes a Sunday morning experience, occasional classes, and events. Work with the NextGen Director on a fresh strategy for today's generation that intentionally disciples followers of Jesus, equips them to be sent out into their communities, and a ministry that is attractive to those far from God. Develop an annual ministry plan with specific strategies and measurable goals which includes a calendar, curriculum, and scope and sequence. Oversee all communication for the ministry to parents, teens, the church, and the community. Develop an annual budget and oversee expenditures. Recruit, train, disciple, resource, schedule, develop and appreciate volunteers. This may include a rotation leading the NextGen New Volunteer Orientation. Regularly provide exposure and opportunities for students to take steps to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and subsequently, baptism. Coordinate Valley Teens First Impressions to ensure an intentional and positive experience for visitors including learning names, connecting them with others, and following up. To track and coordinate connections for teen ministry including but not limited pastoral care and follow up when absent. Maintain databases and administrative systems such as Community Church Builder, Text in Church, Canva, attendance, Facebook groups, social media, website, etc. Create opportunities for yourself and your volunteers to be in the community including but not limited to sporting events, community centers, schools, etc. Work with the Elementary Director on preteen strategies for 4th and 5th grade and the transition when they enter the youth group. Work closely with the NextGen team for All In Worship experiences, Big Days, community outreach, and initiatives to partner with parents such as classes or conferences. Maintain proper facility care of the youth spaces.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Experience

• Proven track record relating to and working with teenagers and adults leaders.
• Two or Four year degree in related field or comparable internship or experience.
• Local or district license in the church of the Nazarene or a willingness to pursue ordination. Skills/Knowledge
• Ability to recruit, train, and build teams.
• A track record of making disciples.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of best practices in youth ministry. Personal Characteristics
• Must be a committed disciple of Jesus.
• Alignment with the vision, mission, vision, and values of the valley church.
• A deep sense of calling towards youth ministry.
• Passion for those outside the church, the local church, and for growing closer to Jesus.
• Alignment with the church of the Nazarene articles of faith, and the Valley Leadership Covenant.
• Ability to lift over 25lbs.
