Summary The Pastor of Student Ministries leads the outreach and discipleship of students in grades 6-12, helping them grow into lifelong followers of Christ through authentic relationships, biblical teaching, and engaging ministry. This role equips volunteers, partners with families, and collaborates with church leaders to support King Street Church s mission of reaching, teaching, and resourcing the next generation.

Definition and Purpose Statement:

King Street Church is a downtown church that is about reaching our community, teaching Christ, and resourcing the wider church. Our students play a key role in the present and future of our church in all aspects of its mission. The Pastor of Student Ministries leads the outreach and discipleship ministries for and with students in grades 6-12 by being a mentor and model of faith in Christ; by casting vision to students and leaders; by recruiting, developing, and supporting student and adult leaders; and by creating a fun and welcoming culture and atmosphere. This is a highly relational role and building relationships with students and leaders is essential. This position serves alongside and is expected to collaborate with the Associate Director of Student Ministries.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Build Christ-honoring relationships with King Street Church students and families, including being present and comfortable in their spaces (schools, sporting events, extra-curricular activities, etc.). Oversee and participate in the strategy and execution of discipleship programming for students, including: Midweek and Sunday Morning teaching. Offsite service opportunities and mission trips. Recreational and fun activities across various student interests that build friendships and faith. Recruit, develop, and equip a network of spiritually-gifted volunteers to reach and disciple students toward spiritual maturity. Collaborate with the Ministry Lead Team (including closely with the Children s Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, and Adult Ministry Directors/Pastors) to support a culture of discipleship in the local church through all phases of life. Sustain and foster relationships with organizations doing student faith development, especially local Christian Schools, United Brethren Churches, and other student pastors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ. Passion and calling to reach and disciple students. Leadership or volunteer experience in student ministries of 100+ students. Effective communicator and mentor to students ages 12-18. Training in student ministry or education (Bachelor s or Master s Degree, Residency programs). Currently ordained or willing to pursue ordination in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ.

Simple meals served at midweek programming and snacks with Sunday morning programming. Volunteers track alongside the same small group of students through all seven years of their middle and high school education. Local, out-of-state and international mission trips. Trips to Hersheypark, Hershey Bears Hockey, and hiking trips. Service opportunities that meet the needs of the local community. Connection to and collaboration with local Christian camping ministries. Student development opportunities in worship, production, technology, and teaching. Bible studies and book studies during the summer.

ACCOUNTABILITY

This full-time position reports to the Executive Pastor and is accountable to the KSC Board of Administration.
