Job Description
Summary/Overview:
The responsibility of the Youth and Family Minister is to build relationships; cast vision; equip leaders; and teach, model, and empower children and youth for lives of discipleship as beloved children of God. The Youth and Family Minister is accountable to the Associate Pastor/Director of Faith Formation. Essential Duties/Responsibilities- Build trusting relationships with the children, youth, and families at CTK
- Coordinate and execute youth group meetings three times per month, focusing on personal growth and fellowship
- Spearhead various seasonal youth and faith formation events including grace links, Advent and Lent Wednesday nights, and Vacation Bible School
- Plan and lead various retreats like LYO, Lutherock, HS Beach Retreat, National Youth Gathering, service projects,Vacation Bible School, etc.
- Plan and implement congregational activities such as Rally Day, Trunk or Treat, Easter Egg Hunt, Superbowl party, and Pentecost activities
- Oversee fundraising activities ahead of the National Youth Gathering
- Plan, orchestrate, and actively participate in Sunday school, including coordinating weekly volunteers, managing resources, and teaching high-quality children's programming
- Uplift the youth by attending extracurricular activities and keeping in touch outside of church.
- Explore new avenues for youth and children's programming in the church and wider community.

- Oversee communication plan for all programs specific to this position
- Manage budget for youth and children
- Participate in worship including and occasionally lead children's messages
- Train volunteers with a passion for kids/youth to be youth advisors and Sunday school teachers, and ensure all volunteers are Safe Gatherings certified

- Must pass a background check and complete Safe Gathering certification. Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Two years in related work experience
- College degree or equivalent experience
- Church leadership experience, including camp counselor
- Understanding and appreciation of the Lutheran Church Working Conditions
- Typical work week: Sunday-Thursday
- Flexible day/evening hours, some evenings and weekends expected
- Team-oriented community
- Hybrid in-office and work from home structure Valid driver's license required Clean driving record (minimal to no points, no major violations)
