Job Description
Job Overview The Minister of Music position at First Baptist Church Campobello is a part-time salaried position. ( 20 hours per week ) The individual must be passionate and have a sense of calling to lead the music ministry. The Minister of Music leads the church in a music ministry that will inspire and enhance congregational worship and fellowship, engage all age levels in a variety of music experiences and education, promote music as an important part of meaningful corporate and personal worship and spiritual growth and lead choirs and musicians. This person is expected to work under the leadership and authority of the Pastor. Responsibilities The duties and expectations of the Minister with Music will include, but not be limited to, the following: Contribute to the mission and vision of the church through active involvement in church-wide programs. Plan, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive music program inclusive of all age groups throughout the life of the church. Work in consultation with the Pastor to plan the Sunday worship and special services to ensure appropriate congregational and special music that enhances and supports the worship message and experience. Lead and direct congregational music and the choir for regular and special worship services, including planning and rehearsing music, recruiting and developing choir members, and providing spiritual encouragement and support to all involved. Recruit, train, and shepherd members of the adult choir, praise team, musicians, and other music ministry volunteers. Encourage and recruit members of the congregation of all ages to offer their musical talents to the church, individually and/or in organized music groups. Seek opportunities for church music groups to perform in the community, including church planned outreach or service programs and activities of local communities or organizations. Supervise the church accompanists. Maintain regular communication with the church congregation about music ministry activities and initiatives. Utilize various communication channels, including social media, church bulletins, newsletters, to keep everyone informed. Manage the music ministry budget and maintain musical instruments and equipment. Coordinate with media and sound team to ensure quality audio/visual support for all services, maintain up-to-date equipment, and ensure proper Copyright compliance for music, lyrics, and media content. Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Qualifications/Requirements Must profess faith in Jesus Christ, exhibit a commitment to sharing Christ with others and adhere to Southern Baptist beliefs and principles. Must have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Must become a member of First Baptist Church or already be a member. Prefer that the Minister of Music possess a bachelor's degree in music, be working toward a bachelor's degree or have served previously as a minister of Music. Must have experience in leading congregational worship with strong musical abilities (vocal and/or instrumental). Must have the ability to work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers. Must possess good organizational skills. Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and connect with church members of all ages, children youth, parents, and volunteers of diverse backgrounds. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey biblical truths and inspire others. Must have flexibility in working hours to accommodate evening and weekend activities. Must pass background check and follow Church Child Safety Policy.
