Bible-Focused Worship Disciple-Making Missions Prayer Sacrificial Generosity About the Position The Worship Pastor for the Choir-and-Orchestra-Led Service furthers Shandon Baptist Church s mission and vision through spiritual, pastoral, and musical leadership of the choir-and-orchestra-led worship service. Working under the direction of the Senior Pastor, he is responsible for planning and leading worship, shepherding and developing ministry participants, and providing overall leadership to the choir, orchestra, and supporting ensembles. He collaborates closely with the Modern Worship Pastor and other staff to steward shared resources and facilities and to promote unity across Shandon s worship ministry. He must serve in alignment with Shandon s mission, values, ministry philosophy, and statement of faith, The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 . Job Responsibilities & Duties Plan and lead the weekly choir-and-orchestra-led worship service in collaboration with the Senior Pastor. Select music and other service elements that support the biblical message, mission, and ministry philosophy of Shandon Baptist Church. Plan and lead rehearsals that prepare the choir, orchestra, and supporting musicians for worship. Recruit, develop, shepherd, and retain choir members, orchestra members, vocalists, and other ministry volunteers. Support the Senior Pastor in the accomplishment of the church s mission through the Choir and Orchestra Worship Ministry of Shandon and in other ways. Work alongside the Modern Worship Pastor to share resources and facilities so as to provide a high level of excellence in all worship services. Support and collaborate with the Modern Worship Pastor in the giving of direction and vision to the Production and Media Teams for Sunday Worship experiences as well as special events. Provide direction for auxiliary groups that would support the Choir and Orchestra led service or have outreach ministries to extend the reach of the church into the community and region. Within the leadership expectations of the Sr. Pastor and Executive Pastors, be able to provide an effective and efficient means of annual or periodic evaluation using key ministry objectives, with recommendations for future staffing needs as well as salary adjustments for existing staff. Within the budgeting process as defined by the Executive Leadership, build and administrate a working budget to handle expenses regarding the scope of the worship experience. Organize and administrate the choral and orchestral libraries. Give oversight for the upkeep of all instruments and other equipment related to the Choir and Orchestra Led Worship Service. Work with the Modern Worship Pastor to do the same for the Worship Center equipment. Supervise, develop, equip, structure, shepherd, counsel, and coach the Choir and Orchestra Worship staff. This includes hiring and terminating staff (with Senior Pastor approval), determining, and recommending staffing models and organizational structure for the Worship Ministry as it pertains to the Choir and Orchestra Led Service. Develop, equip, structure, shepherd, and counsel those involved in the Choir and Orchestra Worship Ministry keeping them focused on their role and responsibilities as worship leadership. General Requirements Master s degree or equivalent from an accredited seminary. Have 5 or more years of ministry experience in Worship Ministry and Leadership. A strong Christ-follower who can identify closely with the mission, values, vision, and philosophies of Shandon Baptist Church. Spiritually mature, respectable, and an example to the church. Model Biblical family life before the body (Eph 5:22-6:4). Devoted to his wife; a one-woman man who manages his household well. Humble, gentle, peaceful, and a lover of good as well as sober, self-controlled, and respectable. Model Biblical integrity in all things (1 Tim 6: 11-12) Deal with conflict directly, openly, honestly, graciously, and biblically. Model Biblical community in his relationships (Matt 5:23-24; Matt 18: 15-17 ; Eph 4: 25-32) A mature Christian man who is growing in his personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible Study, prayer, and service. The proven ability to identify, recruit, equip, and effectively lead musicians and ministry volunteers and ministry staff. A faithful steward with financial integrity and the demonstrated ability to develop and manage a budget Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Able to unreservedly affirm The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 , Shandon s statement of faith. General Characteristics Must be a member of Shandon Baptist Church. Must be willing to demonstrate Christ-like maturity and warmly interact with staff, church members, guests and visitors. Must be capable and willing to work with Pastoral and other staff and lay leadership in the performance of duties. We work as a team. Must be able to complete tasks and assist employees, members and guests with warmth and professionalism.
