Job Description

Student Pastor Job Description The Student Pastor provides spiritual leadership for the church's ministry to middle school and high school students by making disciples, equipping parents and volunteer leaders, and helping students develop a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. This role works collaboratively with the pastoral staff to advance the church's mission and vision while partnering with the Children's Ministry to create a unified Next Gen strategy from birth through young adulthood. Spiritual Leadership Lead students toward a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through biblical teaching, discipleship, prayer, and personal example.

Develop a disciple-making strategy that encourages students to grow spiritually and serve others.

Provide pastoral care to students and their families as appropriate.

Faithfully participate (with one's family, if married) in the worship life of the church and model active engagement in the ministries of the congregation. Leadership Development Recruit, train, mentor, and encourage volunteer leaders who model Christ and disciple students.

Equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their homes.

Build leadership teams rather than carrying ministry alone. Outreach & Evangelism Develop intentional outreach strategies to connect unchurched students and families.

Maintain a visible presence in local schools and community events by attending student activities when appropriate.

Encourage students to share their faith and serve their community. Programming & Ministry Events Oversee weekly student gatherings, Bible studies, retreats, camps, mission trips, and special events.

Ensure that all ministry activities align with the church's mission and calendar.

Evaluate ministry effectiveness and make improvements as needed. Collaboration Partner with the children's minister to create a seamless Next Gen ministry.

Work closely with the College & Career ministry to ensure successful transitions for graduating seniors.

Collaborate with church staff and ministry leaders to advance the overall mission of the church, including preaching during Sunday morning worship services as needed and ministering to the congregation as directed by the Lead and Executive Pastors. Administration Develop and manage the annual student ministry budget.

Maintain communication with students, parents, and volunteers.

Ensure appropriate safety policies and procedures are followed for all student activities. Qualifications A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Agreement with the church's Statement of Faith.

A clear call to student ministry.

Strong communication and teaching skills.

Ability to recruit, develop, and lead volunteers.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Bachelor's degree required; theological training is a plus.

Previous experience in student ministry preferred. Success in This Role The Student Pastor will: Build meaningful relationships with students and families.

Develop a healthy team of volunteer leaders.

Increase student engagement in worship, small groups, and discipleship.

Create opportunities for students to serve in the church.

Foster a culture of evangelism and missions.

Successfully transition graduating seniors into adult ministry.
