Associate Minister/Director of Worship and Arts Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church Nashville, TN Job Details Full-time From $55,000 a year 12 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Life insurance Qualifications Music Vocal music Gospel choir conducting experience Gospel music conducting Contemporary Christian music conducting Hymn music Full Job Description Position Summary The Associate Minister/Director of Worship & Arts provides pastoral, spiritual, creative, and administrative leadership for the full Worship & Arts ministry of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Working under the vision of the Senior Pastor and serving as the Senior Pastor's principal staff leader for Worship & Arts, this role cultivates worship experiences that are spiritually engaging, biblically grounded, culturally relevant, and intergenerational. A central responsibility is bridging generations through worship: honoring the rich musical heritage of Lake Providence while creating space for contemporary expression across traditional and contemporary Gospel, hymns, Praise & Worship, and CCM. The goal is a unified worship identity in which every generation can participate authentically. The role oversees the choirs, Praise & Worship, band and musicians, youth music ministries, and worship audio personnel, and partners closely with the Production Team. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Worship Planning & Leadership Serve as the primary staff leader for weekly worship, planning music, service flow, transitions, and special elements with the Senior Pastor and ministry staff. Align worship with sermon themes, church-wide initiatives, and the Christian calendar, and plan Worship & Arts participation for holidays, revivals, anniversaries, conferences, and funerals. Maintain a planning process that gives musicians, singers, staff, and Production adequate lead time to prepare with excellence. Ministry Oversight & Team Development Lead and hold accountable the Worship & Arts Department, including adult choirs, Praise & Worship, band and musicians, youth music ministries, and worship audio personnel. Set rehearsal schedules, ministry calendars, rotations, and expectations so every team is prepared for weekly and special services. Recruit, train, and mentor singers, musicians, and worship leaders, and create clear entry points for new participants, including children and youth. Foster a culture of spiritual preparation, excellence, accountability, and teamwork, treating worship ministry as spiritual service rather than performance. Intergenerational & Creative Leadership Cultivate an intergenerational worship culture with meaningful roles for every age group, so that no single style or generation becomes the sole expression of worship. Develop a coherent musical language spanning hymns, traditional and contemporary Gospel, Praise & Worship, and CCM. Mentor emerging worship leaders, vocalists, and creatives while drawing on the experience and gifts of longtime participants. Create, arrange, and introduce original music, recordings, and creative projects that translate the Senior Pastor's themes into worship, and maintain the church's music library and repertoire. Production & Technical Collaboration Partner with the Production Team so that music, audio, lighting, video, livestream, and visual elements function as one unified worship experience. Communicate worship plans, musical selections, and technical needs to Production with sufficient lead time. Pastoral & Spiritual Leadership Provide prayer, biblical encouragement, discipleship, and pastoral presence to those serving in Worship & Arts, modeling Christian character and servant leadership. As gifts and credentials allow and at the Senior Pastor's direction, participate in prayer, Scripture reading, teaching, preaching, visitation, and funerals. Administration & Staff Collaboration Participate in staff, worship-planning, and ministry-planning meetings, and integrate Worship & Arts into the broader church calendar. Develop and administer the annual Worship & Arts budget and steward ministry resources responsibly. Maintain records, schedules, music resources, licensing information, and equipment inventories. Perform other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides ministry leadership and oversight for personnel and volunteers in Worship & Arts, which may include choir directors, adult choirs and ensembles, Praise & Worship leaders and vocalists, band members and musicians, youth music leadership, worship audio personnel, and guest musicians or contractors. Hiring, compensation, and disciplinary decisions are exercised in accordance with Lake Providence personnel policies and under the authority of the Senior Pastor. Qualifications Education & Experience Licensed and/or ordained minister strongly preferred, but not required; title is assigned based on ministerial credentials, with the same scope of responsibility under either title. Bachelor's degree in music, worship, ministry, theology, or a related field preferred; significant church worship leadership experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Demonstrated experience leading worship and music ministry in a church or comparable setting, including leading multiple teams, musicians, and volunteers. Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of and appreciation for the worship traditions and musical heritage of the Black Baptist Church. Ability to lead across traditional and contemporary Gospel, Praise & Worship, hymns, and CCM, and to communicate clear musical direction to vocalists and musicians. Ability to read, arrange, or compose music and/or play an instrument is strongly preferred. Strong organizational, administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multi-staff ministry environment. Other Requirements Demonstrated Christian character and commitment to the mission and ministry of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Full-time schedule that includes Sunday worship, rehearsals, special services, funerals, holidays, and evening and weekend events, with office hours kept per church policy. Core Competencies Spiritual & Pastoral Leadership — demonstrates spiritual maturity and servant leadership, and develops people spiritually as well as musically. Intergenerational Worship Leadership — values and unites the worship expressions of multiple generations within one congregation. Musical Versatility — brings working knowledge of Gospel, Praise & Worship, hymns, and CCM. Team Development — recruits, equips, mentors, and holds accountable leaders, musicians, vocalists, and volunteers. Excellence & Collaboration — values planning, rehearsal, and clear communication; works effectively with pastoral staff, Production, and volunteers. Vision Alignment — receives the Senior Pastor's vision and translates it into practical worship and creative expression.
