Job Description

Position Summary Woodmont's Next Generation Minister provides vision, leadership, and oversight for ministries serving children, students, young adults, and families . This person develops a cohesive discipleship strategy from childhood through young adulthood, equips ministry leaders and volunteers, partners with parents, and works collaboratively with the pastoral and ministry staff to help the next generation become committed followers of Jesus Christ. Primary Responsibilities 1. Vision & Strategy Develop and implement a comprehensive next-generation ministry strategy aligned with the church's mission and values. Create a clear discipleship pathway from early childhood through young adulthood. Evaluate programs and ministries regularly for effectiveness, spiritual impact, and alignment with the church's mission. Stay informed about cultural, social, and spiritual trends affecting younger generations. 2. Children & Student Ministries Provide leadership and oversight for children's and student ministries. Oversee Children's Director Oversee CYF and Middle School Directors Ensure age-appropriate, biblically grounded teaching and discipleship. Develop ministries that encourage worship, prayer, service, missions, fellowship, and spiritual formation. Help create meaningful milestones and transitions as children move from one stage of development to another. 3. Young Adult Ministry Develop strategies for engaging college students and young adults in the life and mission of the church. Oversee Young Professionals Director Create opportunities for discipleship, community, leadership development, service, and spiritual growth. Help young adults make meaningful connections with the broader church. 4. Family Ministry Equip and encourage parents to be the primary spiritual influences in their children's lives. Develop resources, classes, events, and communication strategies that strengthen families. Build partnerships between parents, volunteers, schools, and the church. Help families navigate major developmental and spiritual transitions. 5. Leadership Development Recruit, train, equip, and retain gifted staff and volunteers. Develop a strong pipeline of emerging leaders among students and young adults. Establish clear expectations, accountability, and development plans for ministry leaders. Cultivate a healthy culture of teamwork, collaboration, and spiritual maturity. 6. Pastoral Care & Safety Provide appropriate pastoral care to children, students, young adults, and families. Ensure compliance with church policies regarding child protection, background checks, transportation, supervision, and appropriate boundaries. Respond appropriately to pastoral or family crises and make referrals when professional counseling or other specialized care is needed. 7. Worship & Congregational Life Encourage meaningful participation of younger generations in worship and the broader life of the congregation. Participate in Corporate Worship and Preach when called upon Create opportunities for children, students, and young adults to serve alongside adults. Help bridge generational divides within the congregation. 8. Administration & Communication Establish ministry goals, budgets, calendars, and measurable outcomes. Communicate effectively with parents, staff, volunteers, and church leadership. Collaborate closely with the Senior Pastor and other ministry leaders. Participate in staff meetings, worship services, leadership development, and other church-wide initiatives. Qualifications A mature and growing Christian faith with a commitment to the mission and theology of the church. Bachelor's degree required; seminary or theological education preferred. Significant experience in children's, student, young adult, or family ministry. Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and lead staff and volunteers. Strong relational, organizational, teaching, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with multiple generations and diverse personalities. A passion for reaching and discipling the next generation. Strong character, emotional maturity, integrity, and pastoral sensitivity. Children and students developing a personal faith in Christ Young people remaining connected to the church as they transition into adulthood Increasing parent engagement in spiritual formation Strong volunteer recruitment and retention Development of emerging young leaders Meaningful intergenerational relationships Participation in worship, service, missions, and small groups A healthy and unified next-generation ministry culture Ideal Mission Statement The Next Generation Minister exists to help the church become a place where every child, student, young adult, and family is known, loved, discipled, equipped, and sent to follow Jesus and live out their faith.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
