Full-Time / Exempt Position Overview Hill Country Youth Ranch is a Christian-based residential community dedicated to providing safety, structure, and healing for children and youth ages 5-18. The Chaplain serves as the spiritual leader for the Ranch community, fostering a Christ-centered environment that encourages faith development, emotional healing, and moral growth among residents and staff. Position Summary The Chaplain provides pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and leadership across campus life. These individual plans and leads worship services, Bible studies, and special events; offers individual and group counseling; and integrates faith-based principles into the therapeutic and educational environment of Big Springs Ranch for Children. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing pastoral care and spiritual counseling to residents and staff.
  • Prepare and conduct weekly chapel services, Bible studies, and devotionals.
  • Develop age-appropriate, trauma-informed lessons and activities that reflect Christian principles.
  • Offer crisis intervention, prayer, and spiritual support during times of grief or conflict.
  • Mentor youth in faith, personal responsibility, and moral decision-making.
  • Collaborate with program leadership, counselors, and house parents to ensure faith integration in daily life.
  • Coordinate religious observances, holiday services, and baptism ceremonies.
  • Build partnerships with local churches, ministries, and faith-based volunteers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all licensing, ethical, and professional standards.
  • Support the organizational mission and participate in campus activities, staff meetings, and trainings as required. Qualifications
  • Experience in pastoral or chaplaincy ministry; youth or residential care experience Strong communication, teaching, and counseling skills.
  • Ability to work compassionately and effectively with children who have experienced trauma.
  • Musical or worship-leading abilities are highly desirable.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements for employment in a residential child-care setting. Core Competencies

Requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed. Active involvement in all aspects of Ranch life, community events, and resident engagement.
