Short-term/Long-term Disability Summary:
The Director of Liturgy and Pastoral Ministries is an integral member of the parish staff, responsible for facilitating and coordinating liturgical activities under the guidance of the Pastor. This role requires a deep understanding of Catholic liturgy, pastoral care and a passion for serving the community.Requirements Position Responsibilities:
Liturgy Coordination:
- Recruit, train, and schedules employees and volunteer liturgical ministers, including lectors, ushers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMCs), and altar servers for Sunday and weekday Masses.
- Complete all liturgy planners for the Pastor and then communicate with the Lead Team.
- Prepare the weekly Scoop Sheet for Sunday Masses (English & Spanish) and special liturgies
- Prepare Prayers of the Faithful for Weekday and Weekend masses
- Organize and schedule volunteers from art & environment and the Martha's to set up and decorate the church for various liturgical seasons and special celebrations.
- Maintain and manage the sacristy inventory and expenses for essential liturgical supplies (e.g., bread, wine, palms, ashes, Easter candle).
- Collaborate with the Pastor and Deacons to plan and prepare for liturgical celebrations, ensuring alignment with liturgical norms and traditions.
- Work with musicians, choirs, and other stakeholders to enhance the quality of liturgical music and the overall worship experience.
Ministry Coordination:
- Coordinate communication with Ministry Leads.
- Coordinate and assist with key pastoral activities, including wedding rehearsals and celebrations, funeral planning and meetings, and other sacramental events.
- Attend and participate in the Quarterly Ministry Lead meetings.
- Maintain the Calendar for meetings, events, and ministry activities.
- Work with the Director of Operations on Budgets for all Ministry's.
- Quarterly reconciliation of all Ministry accounts with the Bookkeeper (prior to the quarterly Ministry Lead meeting).
- Attend Ministry meetings to ensure they are being run appropriately. Other Requirements
- Oversee the team members associated with all Sacraments and Liturgy.
- Contribute to any of the marketing or informational items for the
Church:
weekly bulletin, newsletters, flyers, website, social media, etc.- Maintain accurate records, including liturgical schedules, volunteer assignments, and pastoral activities.
- Communicate effectively with parishioners, volunteers, and staff regarding pastoral and liturgical matters.
- Coordinate with the parish office to ensure smooth planning and execution of events and activities.
- Ensure OVASE compliance for active parish ministers
- Stay updated on developments in liturgical theology, pastoral care, and Catholic Church teachings.
- Participate in ongoing formation and spiritual enrichment programs provided by the parish or archdiocese.
- All other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Director of Operations.
