Job Description

Position:
Part-time Worship Music Leader Person Description:
Sojourners Church views its Worship Leader not only as a professional in ministry and member of our staff, but as an integral part of the life of our church. Thus, this should be a person: who is a committed Christian, alive in the Spirit, growing in his/her faith, and demonstrating that faith in his/her lifestyle, family, and relationships. who has a growing understanding of worship in the Reformed tradition, and in its many contemporary expressions, with a facility for integrating the two. who believes himself/herself to be called by God to serve in this role. who possesses musicianship skills for this role, including proficiency on guitar, singing, and leading an ensemble. who is a good team player and welcomes constructive feedback. who relates well to people and leads with confidence. who stays informed of emerging contemporary Christian worship music.
Position Description:
1. Participate in the life of Sojourners Church beyond their Sunday duties. 2. Work with the Pastor and Administrator to plan, prepare, and lead Sunday services that are both multigenerational and artistically diverse. 3. Coordinate the musical and spiritual development of volunteer musicians while also recruiting and developing new musicians, with an emphasis on creating opportunities for youth in worship leadership. 4. Help organize and lead music in a small number of special services outside of Sunday worship, including: Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve.
Part-Time Particulars:
This position will require approximately 8 hours/week.
The estimated weekly breakdown is:
3 hours Sunday morning music leadership 3 hours of preparation, relationship building, community involvement, practice with individuals or worship team 1 hour joining in planning music for the services with the Pastor 1 hour of communications and logistics
Accountability:
This position is accountable to the Pastor and is supported in his/her ministry by the Administrator and Oversight Team. Salary, Benefits, Etc.: Annual salary: Salary based on experience, along with the employer's portion of FICA.

$24.00 - $29.00 per hour
