Job Description
Children's PastorMount Pleasant Baptist Church (MPBC)Colonial Heights, Virginia Position OverviewMount Pleasant Baptist Church is seeking a passionate, organized, and spiritually mature leader to serve as our Children's Pastor. This individual will provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all aspects of our children's ministry (birth through 5th grade), partnering with families to help children know, love, and follow Jesus. The Children's Pastor will play a key role in discipling the next generation and equipping volunteers to create a safe, engaging, and gospel-centered environment for our children. Primary Responsibilities Ministry Leadership & Vision Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for children's ministry aligned with the overall mission and vision of MPBCLead all children's ministry environments, including Sunday mornings, midweek programming, and special eventsEnsure all teaching is biblically sound, age-appropriate, and gospel-centeredVolunteer Recruitment & Development Recruit, train, and shepherd a strong team of volunteersProvide ongoing encouragement, support, and leadership development for team membersCreate clear systems for scheduling, communication, and team careFamily Partnership Equip and encourage parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their childrenCommunicate regularly with families regarding ministry opportunities and resourcesProvide support and guidance for families navigating spiritual developmentSafety & Administration Oversee and maintain all child safety and security policies and proceduresEnsure all volunteers are properly screened and trainedManage ministry budget, supplies, and classroom environmentsCoordinate use of curriculum and ministry resourcesEvents & Outreach Plan and execute children-focused events (camps, outreach events, etc.) alongside of Children's adminPartner with other church ministries to integrate children into the broader life of the churchEngage the community as an avenue for outreach and connectionQualifications A clear and growing relationship with Jesus ChristA calling to children's ministry and a heart for discipleshipAgreement with the doctrine (BFM, 2000) and mission of Mount Pleasant Baptist ChurchStrong leadership, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to recruit, lead, and develop volunteers effectivelyBachelor's degree (ministry-related field preferred, but not required)Key Characteristics Energetic and relationalOrganized and detail-orientedTeam player who works well with staff and volunteersCreative in engaging children and familiesDependable and proactiveAbout Mount Pleasant Baptist ChurchMount Pleasant Baptist Church is a body of believers that exists to meet people where they are and point them to Jesus.
