In collaboration with the Senior Pastor, church leadership, and the Deaf Congregation Leadership Team, this role supports the church's mission and communicates its vision within the congregation, the community, and the broader church body. The Pastor of Deaf Ministry reports directly to the Senior Pastor of RFBC. Essential Duties 1. Leading the Deaf Congregation to participate in RFBC's mission of Bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth and to represent the Deaf Congregation within the larger body. 2. Preaching the Gospel - plan and conduct weekly worship services, including preaching the weekly sermon; communicate through social media in coordination with RFBC's Communication Team. 3. Caring for the Deaf Congregation - make pastoral visits; counsel with church members; visit prospects and follow-up with new members; officiate weddings and funerals; visit small groups within the ministry. 4. Administration within and outside the church - attend meetings; lead in development of the Deaf Ministry budget with RFBC's Finance Committee; respond to emails; communicate with outside groups; become involved with the community beyond the church connecting with community resources; maintain pulpit supplies. Qualifications Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ with an active faith and spiritual life. Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). Ability to communicate using visual technology - powerpoint, etc. Have working knowledge and understanding of Deaf Culture. Ability to preach, teach, and provide pastoral care in a ministry setting. Ability to work effectively with church leadership, staff, volunteers, and ministry teams. Demonstrated capacity for both spiritual leadership and administrative responsibility. Degree in ministry, theology, or a related field (or enrollment) preferred. Working Hours This is a part-time position (approx. 20 hours/week). Primary responsibilities within the church fall on Sundays and Wednesdays with pastoral care, sermon prep and other duties occurring outside of office times.
