Job Description

Aya Healthcare has a 8-week contract for a Hospice Chaplain opportunity with a medical facility in Coupeville, WA! Assignment Details Personal vehicle required. Mileage and eligible travel expenses reimbursed.

SUMMARY OF HOSPICE CHAPLAIN
: The chaplain completes in-home (or place of residence) direct patient/family spiritual care. Initial spiritual care assessments have to be completed within 5 calendar days of starting hospice care. Assessment includes patient/family religious or spiritual background, current spiritual resources or practices and developing a spiritual plan of care. Ongoing spiritual care may look like in-home visits 1 -2 times a month and may include life review, identifying what gives the patient meaning, connecting patients with a local faith community, scriptural review or helping plan a memorial service. Our chaplain also completed a marriage ceremony for one of our patients. The chaplain also provides spiritual care to the hospice team.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & SKILLS OF HOSPICE CHAPLAIN
: Valid Driver's License Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (MDIV or equivalent degree). Completion of one unit of a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program with an emphasis on health care ministry preferred. Minimum of one year of related experience in pastoral service to individuals and families. Hospice or Palliative Care experience preferred. Basic Microsoft Office Skills
KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS FOR HOSPICE CHAPLAIN
Knowledge and experience in the area of coping with terminal illness, grief and/or bereavement in the pastoral/spiritual realm. Ability to recognize caregiver distress, cultural diversity and be non-judgmental of individual life-styles. Ability to work effectively with people of diverse social, economic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Ability to be able to work independently while functioning as part of a cooperative and coordinated team. Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple, competing priorities. Must be able to coordinate several tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of efficiency and accuracy. Accept, affirm and respect diverse belief systems and spiritual practices and preferences.
